National Fleet & Engineering Manager

Job description

 For almost 30 years, Greenergy has been investing in lower carbon renewable fuels that can be used in existing vehicles. As Europe’s largest manufacturer of waste-based biodiesel, renewables are core to Greenergy’s strategy to drive transport decarbonisation through continued leadership in renewables.

 The role:

• Vehicle procurement and specification recommending the best whole life cost approach to the supply of vehicle assets, to include finance methods and after sales care and support arrangements.

• Key supplier selection, liaison and relationship management

• Managing a busy fleet team , overseeing the effective and efficient maintenance of the full fleet

• Working with the fleet engineer and relevant colleagues to develop vehicle and driver safety and to support FORS registration.

• Liaison with customers on fleet and engineering matters as required to meet customer needs and support delivery of best in class service

• Maintaining and developing effective fleet operational processes and controls to deliver asset deployment matching business needs

• In conjunction with the above; ensuring that the fleet function has robust and effective management of change controls in place - for example, vehicles entering service, site moves, maintenance and servicing etc.

• Developing key lagging and leading performance indicators for the Fleet function, with particular emphasis on safety and service to the business

• Continual monitoring of fleet deployment to ensure this is managed and adjusted to deploy assets where needed, with effective maintenance support and to manage cost, vehicle mileages, operational dynamics and requirements

• Support the monitoring and measurement of accurate fuel consumption data and recommendations to drive improvement, including best use of supporting technologies (e.g. telematics).

• Using available data and experience to develop and present insight into key cost, supplier performance, reliability, service interval, uptime etc. trends with the fleet in order to identify and recommend future actions to improve service, efficiency and cost.

• Ensuring that the company remains ‘green’ at all times in relation to Operators Licencing and supporting the transition to an ‘earned recognition’ environment.

• Representing the business in relevant external relationships to promote Greenergy Flexigrid and ensure the business remains up to date with latest vehicle and fleet trends and developments in the industry.

The Person:

• An adaptable and experienced transport industry management professional with a depth of knowledge of LGV vehicle operations and supplier management

• Strong commercial skills and the ability to prepare business cases and evidence based proposals to support development of the fleet function

• Good team manager with the ability to work at all levels from the driver interface through to senior internal and external customer relationships.

• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to lead and develop policy and build support for business decisions with colleagues and key stakeholders

• A hands-on individual who will work closely with operational colleagues in deploying and managing assets to meet business needs.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Accuracy and attention to detail

• PC literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook

• Good standard of education essential

• The ability to absorb information and learn quickly

• Well organised with the ability to work in a fast paced environment whilst handling multiple tasks
